Hi Bernie, No problem, butt away <g>. According to my understanding of this aspect of tax law, your accountant is correct from a standpoint of ease of computation and consistency. However, unlike a business operation where you pick one form of valuation, an investor, from what I've been told, is not limited to using just LIFO or just FIFO. Rather, an individual investor can vary valuation for each different holding. I'll be checking the tax regs tomorrow and speaking with some financial types over the next few days to verify the foregoing and will let you know what I find out. Saul...
