ref-< And if the market got wind that Intel was selling all its holdings in RAMBUS and CMGI, these stocks would crash to the teens before they could pull it off. >

Petz and that is one of the reasons Intel is not liquidating its $5billion potential gains overnight. It will take time to sell them all.

And that is why the capital gain appreciation is not a one time item, but will be a regular contributor to the income statement:

Putz - Re: Intel investments are trivial on a per share basis

Then why is it such an outrage when Intel harvests a small amount of its investments during the year ?

It would also be very helpful if you could explain the Intel "performance deficiency" when earnings hit $8.1 Billion for the year up from $6.3 Billion, net after taxes.

As a further homework assignment for the 'Droid impaired, explain how Intel is on the brink of failure when cash on hand increases to $11.9 Billion from $7.3 Billion.

Petz - Re: "You said the same thing about Vantis and AMD made a profit of 432,000,000 on a sale of 500,000,000."

How could AMD make that kind of profit? AMD spent $300,000,000 or $400,000,000 to buy Monolithic Memories in the FIRST PLACE - back in 1987!
