Tom Lehrer --- the song you quote is "Nicolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky is My Name." Lehrer was a brilliant mathematical logician and night club entertainer. He was a member of Harvard's Society of Fellows. ("Index I get from back of old Vladivostak telephone directory!") This is song is very loosely based on the creation of non-Euclidean geometries, several different versions of which appeared about the same time (Bolyai, Riemann, Lobachevsky, Minkowski, etc.) It's all here: www.wiw.org/~drz/tom.lehrer/:
