OT:

I can't offer too much in the way of real information, but can share an amusing story I heard recently about WDC. I grew up near Rochester, MN, and have a friend there who recently left WDC to go to work at the Mayo Clinic. She shared the story of another friend of hers that also left WDC recently. Apparently her friend's boss started the e-mail he sent about her resignation by saying that she was "leaving a sinking ship for one that floats". :)

I bought some WDC on a speculative play.
Anyone familiar with it?
The call options have been going nuts on it.

One might argue that WDC is dog meat in an extremely cut throat industry suffering from over capacity. If the calls are going wild then conceiveably some rumor is out there of a buy out or something. It's not at all obvious to me though why a competitor would buy them out rather than letting them quietly die to reduce capacity.

There's a hard disk forum here that might have better rumors. It's populated by knoledgeable industry people. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact name of it -- I quit following it six months or so ago.
