I agree. Once you go broadband you never go back. This AT&T promo is impeccably timed - the broadband media hype is just now getting turned on.

I called a friend to tell him about the new offer. He has asked about the @HOME service in the past, but was a little lukewarm to the switch because his kids are dedicated AOL users. I explained the obvious, that he could still access AOL if he chose to, but I could feel I was working against inertia.

The ironic thing is - he hates AOL - kicks him out all the time. This is a complaint I hear all the time from other AOL subscribers. To add to the the irony, I subscribed to AOL last month and access it via the @HOME service - it kicks me out of AOL also - at least once every session. Incredible that customers put up with that. At least when I get kicked out I don't have to dial back in.

Why did I subscribe to AOL? I've been comparing content on AOL Vs @HOME, Yahoo, and Excite; there is little to distinguish them and all of their "proprietary" content pale to the content available on the net at large.
