The worst thing a MSFT CFO can do is say something which drives up the stock price. Gates would be very upset! The new guy didn't want to risk that happening, especially since the numbers were good.

Yea well in the meantime he has 20 million or more shareholders who would like to take his friggin head off. The new guy better learn what makes a stock move up. It is really stupid that Microsoft makes the numbers and the reward shareholders get is to see their investment take a plunge because of stupid cautionary dumb comments.

No one criticized Maffei last time for his "extreme exhuberance".
