A second thought: it may be worthwile to note that any news stories of a wider use and application of IQ- and learning achievement tests in the US than in many European countries usually arouse fears of BIG GOVERNMENT interference with sections of our lives European listeners assume to be individualized ... most wouldn't accept the authority of ANY (centralised?, scientific?) institution to make and calibrate those tests (especially not if anything depended on them ;-) ).

A little bit of libertarianism even here in usually well-regulated and self-censored German minds ;-).
Or would you, like before, assume that there is still more of a social class system than in the US, as an expression of which people constantly assume that their children have an innate 'right' to achieve a certain degree of education, so that they abhor tests that might, if taken institutionally serious, prevent them from that chance?

Regards, MNI.
