What part of when I said "I was wrong on timing" did you not understand. Its the later part of what I said, with consideration to AMD and Cursoe, and other factors, that make me believe that Intel has fumble the microprocessor ball. The view of Intel has always been to provide the high value PC CPUs which gave other companiess leads on game consoles and PDAs. Now there is a clear exposure on the CPU side, and they are wanting to compete in new spaces dominated by strong focused players.

Intel was once going to take on DSP technology, but ended up with a MMX instruction set.

Isn't the risk of shrinking margins and greater supply of Athlon chips as well as new exposure to lossing the laptop market of any concern?
