Mysef and others, re: Sharky's CPU prices ( www3.sharkyextreme.com ) Did you notice that the top four Athlon speed grades (800, 750, 700, 650) all had price drops of three digits? Wow. Is AMD demand-limited all of a sudden? I do remember hearing that 1M Athlons were made, but 900K were shipped and 800K were sold. What's up with that? Meanwhile, Intel is sold out, so its obvious that Pentium IIIs are supply-limited (though whether that's due to bad yields or to high demand is another debate). This price discrepancy is starting to look like the K6 days of old. Pentium III 700 is going for $700 (coincidentally enough), while Athlon 700 is going for $495. Great for AMD consumers, but very peculiar to me. Maybe AMD feels like they can lower the boom on prices now that they've got a strong profit base. But then that'll just provide more evidence that AMD's priority is to hurt Intel more than to make the most amount of money. Either that, or AMD is more demand-limited than I thought. Comments? By the way, I don't mean this to be an anti-AMD rant. Just want to know some answers. Tenchusatsu
