Well, that's one thing, but I believe there was some shady NJ policy as well.

Personally, I don't care about abortion positions one way or another, unless I detect fanaticism.

Whitman is a no-go. She's unpopular, barely winning re-election against an unknown. She wanted the Senate, but withdrew in the face of certain defeat. (Funny, when she first ran, a then-unknown, she almost beat Bradley because he was unpopular for his defense of Florio's tax increases and his own constant fundraising. He outspent her at least 4-1).

She'd be about as popular with the electorate as Nelson Rockefeller was as Ford's pick. Of course the Media would swoon, but Ford still had to dump his Hump. Ford probably would have been elected had he not prematurely freed Poland, but his fecklessness would have greatly weakened the party and we would not be enjoying the Great Boom that began in the early 1980's.

Whitman will be showcased as a potential cabinet member.
