Bombardier Tops Forbes Global 'A List' for the Second
Consecutive Year - Company Selected as the one to Watch
in Aerospace and Defense Industry

JANUARY 24, 2000
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--In its second annual A List, a ranking of the
world's premier companies to watch in 21 industries, Forbes Global
magazine selected Montreal-based Bombardier as the world's leading
company in the Aerospace and Defense industry. The Forbes Global
ranking is based on past performance as well as future earnings
and growth potential.

Forbes Global highlighted Bombardier's heavy investment in new
products over the past five years, a period in which the company
developed more new aircraft than any other airframe manufacturer.
The magazine also underscored Bombardier's worldwide market
leadership in regional aircraft, business aircraft, passenger
railcars and personal watercraft.

Bombardier Aerospace leads the growing business aircraft market
with a portfolio of jets that range in mission capabilities from
inter- to intra-continental travel. The product line includes the
Learjet* series, Challenger* business aircraft and the ultra
long-range Global Express*. In 1999 Bombardier marked a record
year in business aircraft activities, gaining the revenue lead
position in the industry with 173 business jet deliveries. The
company also announced its entry into the super midsize market
with the Bombardier Continental Jet* and expanded its fractional
ownership program, Flexjet*, into Europe.

In regional aircraft, Bombardier offers its pioneering 50- to
70-seat Canadair Regional Jet* Series 100, 200 and 700 aircraft
and the 37- to 78-seat Q Series Dash 8* turboprop family with its
revolutionary Noise and Vibration Suppression system for increased
passenger comfort. Bombardier continued to set the pace in the
regional jet market in 1999 with the first flight of its 70-seat
jet, an aircraft program more than two years ahead of its closest
competitors.

The company's top position in passenger railcars led Forbes Global
to claim that this group is one to watch in 2000. Among its many
highlights in 1999, Bombardier won a Cdn$758 million contract with
the Long Island Railroad, the largest commuter railroad in the
United States and continued to manufacture America's first
high-speed train, Amtrak's Acela Express.

Note to editors: The A List is selected by Forbes Global editors
and spotlights companies in 21 industries with more than US$5
billion in sales for the latest fiscal year based on the following
criteria:

* Five-year average return on equity

* One-year stock price change

* Estimated EPS growth in the coming year

* Five-year annualized sales growth

* Five-year annualized growth in earnings before interest, taxes,
depreciation and amortization
