NOK's relationship with IDC predates the expansion in the San Diego area by several years. Why come to SD if IDC is so crucial to them?

Another thing. Why aren't IDC in San Diego? Can they source their engineering needs locally

Where does this QCOM vs IDC mentality comes from? You're probably too slow to pick up on the easily verifiable fact that most of the smartest companies in the industry have GSM/TDMA and CDMA products. The obvious exception is QCOM which is a pure CDMA play with an unarguable history of difficult business relationships. Contrast that with an industry leader like Nokia where everybody who does business with them makes money. In mobile wireless. In fixed wireless. In ADSL. See the pattern? At the end of today, another 500,000 or so handset will have been sold. Guess what? Most of them will be GSM/TDMA.
