Tecinvestor

Did you download it from the website

I did download from AOL and it might be part of the problem but if you had my experience with 5.0 would you try it again? It was a pain in the you know what to reinstall everything. Unfortunately I don't use an imaging program. We (Roadrunner tech and I) did not check the box to allow AOL control. From what I understand, the most frequently encountered problem is with cable modems.

I had DSL and loved it (cable speed in my node is at times pitiful) but that didn't work out. Another long story made short..successful install..worked fine for about a month...two days of tech support at the house resulting in disqualifying my house rather than find and fix whatever was wrong.

I still use AIM at home but until AOL solves their problems I will have to stick with Roadrunner.

PS: You think this could all be user error? <ggg>

Tecinvestor - my experience was similar to yours. We used a CD to load AOL 5.0. My wife uses AOL, I use, IE. We set up with IE as the primary browser, bring your own ISP, ADSL instead of dial-up. No problems with AOL whatsoever.
