AMD makes no mention on what optimizations are used, so there is no way to verify their claims regarding SPEC. On the SPEC site, Compaq, Dell and Fujitsu all list the optimizations they used when running the benchmarks. I agree with you in that a more complete comparison can only be made when both have access or their own optimized code, which may not be the same for both processors. Intel has a compiler they use and may I point out that there is no law or court order preventing AMD from using their own compiler. I don't see it a requirement that Intel provide poor helpless AMD with a means of optimizing their own code. Let them develop their own compiler.
