Not at all, M&M. It resembles the Feelies discussion on rape, which occurred even more months back than the Last-Couple-on-Earth discussion that you set up.

The issue was the very one that the authors of the cited book apparently tackle: is rape a sexual act, or an act of violence? More properly: can a sexual act be violent?

"E" was the most prominent debater on the "yes, rape is a sexual act" side (a position that I too supported); and if I recall correctly, Cobalt Blue was the major opponent of that view. The argument concluded amicably, although I can't say whether anyone's opinions were radically changed.

In any event, I see no reason why those guys should catch MAJOR flak. I did not see anything in that article about the book that would lead me to believe they have anything all that provocatively novel to say.
