Ed,

Yes.... they are. Nothing wrong playing options on JDSU if that is "your plan". I, honestly, tried to pick up a little extra "change" last fall on JDSU's fat premium's at got burned when SOROS started buying.

80 points later, I was lementing the puny premium I took it when all that upside went to someone else.

This stock's on the move.......and it's going UP. Until it calms down and levels off, I don't see ME (and that's my position) writing calls until something fundamental changes and the mo-mo stops.

It's a hard call on this, but it depends on what your strategy is. With all that upside with earnings and S&P and LT growth, I am going to leave this one just plain long.

Regards,

Steve

I began selling covered calls as far out of the money as I could that would still offer a "decent" return of premium shortly before options expiration. This offered some nice additional monthly income. However, after review of the numbers, I have found that if I would have made more money holding my positions and not selling covered calls. a classic case of being penny wise and pound foolish. On the other hand, sharp sudden increases in valuation in my positions, even if they became into the money by options expiration date and were taken out, can still be accepted as a consolation prize. It's a hell of a lot better then having a losing position.
