FT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- ProxyMed, Inc. (Nasdaq: PILL), a leading provider of eHealth physician solutions and business-to-business healthcare transaction services, and North American Medical Management of California (NAMM), a wholly owned subsidiary of PhyCor (Nasdaq: PHYC), which specializes in the management of independent physician associations (IPAs) have signed an agreement for ProxyMed to deliver eHealth transaction services to NAMM physicians including the electronic processing of claims and encounters and other transaction services. The agreement includes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scanning of paper claims and encounters, editing of data for validation and integrity, and routing data to the NAMM processing system.

"This is a great opportunity for NAMM to achieve it's aggressive EDI goals by capitalizing on ProxyMed's experience in the Western US where we have 2,000 NAMM physicians who are directly connected to ProxyMed while providing us with the opportunity to reach an additional 6 ,000 NAMM physicians" said John Okkerse, PhD., Chief Executive Officer of ProxyMed, Inc.

"We chose ProxyMed because they were able to offer us a wide array of EDI services that fit our specific needs today as well as the needs of our physicians." said Chuck Wunderlich, Director of Technology Development, NAMM. "We had an immediate need to implement one of our new services and ProxyMed was able to deliver the solution into the new system we recently implemented. This new scanning service will save us considerable time and money."

Mr. Wunderlich added, "A lot of our physicians and specialists are already connected to the ProxyNet network. This makes it easy for us to enter claims and encounters electronically allowing us to eliminate receiving this data on paper, and making us an overall more efficient company."
