Yes I've been following Media fusion.. but not closely. So far they are in my IDC basket of stuff.. Interesting web site though. Investment relations guy said they wouldn't go public until mid/later this year but they may sell some shares prior to the IPO.

I don't know though.. It sounds interesting but my antennas didn't jump up on this one. For example.. how is this 'last mile' solution any better than wireless, DSL and the many other wireless ideas out there fighting for the 'last mile' solution. AND (!) the whole industry is now built around fiber optic trunk lines so I don't see everyone switching to power poles instead unless there was a huge cost savings and/or performance increases. And I don't know about you but in the areas that don't have DSL - like my mountain home in the Sierras. Well the power lines aren't too reliable either...

That story about transmitting over the magnetic fields of powerlines has been around for a while. Looking forward to an update.

>> supposedly figured out away to perform datacomm by using the electromagnetic field surrounding power lines<<

From the news report: Media Fusion has won a U.S. patent on a process it says can send data, video and voice over electric wires...

A rather similar series of stories ran over two years ago - in the Wall St. Journal on Oct. 7 & 8 of 1997. It was a report on "a breakthrough technology" developed by Northern Telecom and United Utilities PLC that "could transform power lines around the world into major conduits on the information super highway." They had tested the system in England and they predicted that "the local monopoly of the incumbent telecom operators is about to be demolished."

Haven't heard anything about it since.
