Good article - but it sounds OUTDATED.

It never mentions Compaq's declaration that Compaq has the IA 64 Platform of Choice or HP's $2 million hardware and software funding for university/student training.

It seems to have been written under "speculation" of an ITanium shortfall.

However, since Intel has SHIPPED ITanium engineering systems, an IMMENSE amount of VOCAL SUPPORT and COMMITEMENT has arisen from the hardware AND software communities.
