David,

The boys in the Montana Cabin say "fah get abot it". Let ASCOM sell and the shorts...short. It will not matter.

And thanks to whoever wrote me all of those March 10s yesterday!

It is nice to see the RFP....as I have been following this baby for over a year....Monster project....and the chip cards must be biometric.

Read the specs.

Who will be involved?.......2 teams, perhaps 3.

Identix will be on two of the 3....perhaps even all 3.

Those involved?.....Mastercard, Multos....(see IDX press release from CTST).....Siemens, Mondex, Gemplus, Infinion, Motorola, VRSN, Etrust.

Don't know about Visa....... but if AMEX gets involved....we are there with Siemens and Infinion.

Note.....VRSN got cleared to work on all teams...as did Etrust a while back....I think.

A good reference to look at for this project is the DOD smart card project. Same players...could have the upper hand.

Biometrics is here in a big way...... I think you will see some tech venture capital moving into the sector soon......and IDX is still the most logical choice. All of the relationships IDX has been building will begin to pay off in a big way....IMO.

bg

ps. 2 more pc OEMs this quarter wouldn't hurt either.....<g>

David,

Are you staying at home and making snowmen (er a snowpeople?) with with your oldest today? Last time Washington shut down, I was there!

How much would IDX's BIO-ID effort benefit from a substantial win in the government biometric smartcard sweepstakes? Would it help us become the defacto standard? It sure would help sell scanners to all the private businesses that want to do business with goverment employees.
