Worldwide Fiber announces intention to issue shares through initial public offering
PR Newswire - January 26, 2000 16:10

VANCOUVER, Jan. 26 /CNW-PRN/ - Worldwide Fiber Inc. today announced its intention to file a registration statement and prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission and Canadian securities regulators to offer Class A Non-Voting shares during the first half of this year via a firmly underwritten public offering.

The proceeds of Worldwide Fiber's initial public offering of equity securities will be used to complete and deploy its fiber optic networks in North America and Europe, and to develop related Internet and data services.

The shares will be offered in the United States pursuant to the prospectus to be contained in the registration statement, once it has been approved by the regulatory authorities. These shares will also be offered in Canada and Europe. The size and exact timing of the offering are yet to be determined.

Worldwide Fiber designs, builds and operates high-speed fiber-optic networks for communications carriers, Internet service providers and corporations with high-bandwidth network needs. Worldwide Fiber is currently completing a 60,500-kilometer (37,800-mile) terrestrial network in North America and Europe, including a trans-Atlantic network. Worldwide Fiber and its predecessors have been constructing communications networks since 1988. Additional information about Worldwide Fiber is available at www.worldwidefiber.com.
