Kayaker, My guess is that the market timers in general try to make their move before the rest of herd. In my opinion, that is why the selloffs in general have occured much earlier than most analysts predicted. What we are now witnessing the February selloff. As i see it, it means we about to enter a late February rally right about now<g>. See my point about timing. It is always a race.
Hedge funds probably want to be the first in selling and then buying. I would also include great fund managers in that category as well.

Specifically relating to JDSU. JDSU is probably going to report CISCO like numbers, 1 or 2 cents above consensus given their capacity contraints. At this point the outlook is really much more important than the actual earnings. Even if they just hit the number, it should be no big deal.

Investors like yourself who anticipated an earnings related selloff --sold ahead of the earnings release. Considering how fast this stock has been moving up, i can understand their reasoning. Remember that this has been happening amidst such positive reports on the company. IMHO, that is an important key. Many longer term investors who like to trade a lot are going to be anxious to get back into such a great stock and that will cushion or even prevent the possibility of a decline after tomorrow. My guess is that we go much higher in the coming weeks.

Remember they will want to get back in! That is what long term investors/traders want to do; being in companies like JDSU and in a great sector.

Conclusion---no "real" sellers and plenty of buyers.
