Well,

I personally would prefer it if company's would simply state a conservative set of targets and deliver consistent performance rather thean playing parlor games with the analysts.

But I hear your angst over this churning (by way of spin) of DELL stock by the analysts.

Hi John,..Re:.Dell's management, given uncertainties about component pricing, Y2K (pre/post), and potential soft demand before Windows 2000 launch...should have guided analysts to a "makeable" target this quarter

It's really, really painful to do that! <gg> TLAB did just that today and look what happened! It's no win anyway it's played! <g>
