Now, Betty, for every combative response to newbies that you find, I can find at least 20 open armed ones. If you followed the ruckus from its beginning, then you saw that LoF came in with his guns blazing, was greeted at the door by Frank (that was not a bad greeting), then went on to fire again.

A little further digging revealed that LoF appeared to making a show of his appearance here for the humor of others. That was just plain bad taste, imo.

To maintain the productivity of this thread, those who come here with mayhem on their mind or who are not willing to learn about the subject matter before trying to teach the subject matter will be questioned and sanctioned accordingly.

Those who come with honest questions and their best shot at contributions, or even to banter non-productively, in good humor, are met with courtesy and equally good humor.

If I misunderstood the intent of your post to me, please forgive. If I understood the intent of your post, then I hope you will reconsider your opinion.

as it relates
Perhaps the answer is yet another new thread. Gorilla Investing for the Beginner. This could have short tutorials, answers for those who read, but didn't understand, the RFM, and poorly thought out candidates for consideration. It would only work if some of the experts,
Lindy Bill, Down South, Mike Buckley, Uncle Frank, et. al. were willing as otherwise it would be the blind leading the blind. Perhaps a periodic post, which contained links to the best of previous posts, could act as a FAQ so new folks could catch up in less than 6 months. Then the standard response could change from read the Fundamental manual to a link to the other thread.

Yes... a newbie needs to be thick skinned on this thread because I think a thrashing tends to be what one gets at first. If I could 'intro' again it would have been in a very inauspicious comment or two but.. no (!) someone said something that really had my curiosity going and I asked a question and their opinion and gave mine (bad idea for a newbie). It wasn't much fun for the first few days to say the least...

Actually I have to giggle because I read on another thread - about this thread - that the (I am paraphrasing) G&K thread was just about the best one going HOWEVER (!) the gentlemen highly suggested that this other person NOT (!) post on the thread as the thread tended to be very hard on newbies. Sometimes I wished I had read that before I found this thread.
