I heard from a friend that lives in Salt Lake that Intel is building a large R&D facility there, and from another in Boston that they are building there (don't know what kind). A little expansion going on?

Mihaela - Re: 'I don't know. Did they ever get started working on the Oregon fab shell?"

You may be referring to D1C in Hillsboro - Ronler Acres - which is where the 0.13 micron process is being developed.

Mihaela - <Hmmm...I don't know. Did they ever get started working on the Oregon fab shell?>

The D1C shell has been completed for some time. D1C is Intel's 300mm development fab, and will be a 300mm production facility in the future. At the moment, nascent development activity is underway. The first 300mm process will be .13um generation, at least for development purposes.
