RE: QCOM

Just thinking in the sense that valuations are historically high and Q making their number by "only" a penny could cause some kneejerk selling. I actually think QCOM's numbers look pretty good, especially the reported licensing and royalty revenue. But I think it's ahead of itself. Hard to say.

LSI otoh, deserves a much higher multiple in light of this report and projected growth in communications. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow. I have JDSU and EXDS reporting tomorrow, too. Hopefully stellar results from them, like LSI, will provide a counter-weight to any "Q" negatives...

Tony, from the release, next week!:

LSI Logic also announced a stock dividend in the form of a two-for-one common stock split, effective February 4, 2000. Shareholders of record on that date will receive one new share of common stock for each share held. The distribution of the new shares will occur on February 16, 2000. Distribution of the additional shares will increase the number of common shares issued and outstanding from approximately 150 million to 300 million.

The news report says, "The stock split, in the form of a dividend, is payable to shareholders of record Feb. 4 and the new stock will be distributed Feb. 16."

Question -- Does this mean that LSI will trade at split-adjusted prices on Feb. 7 (the first trading day after Feb. 4)? I think that should be the case because it looks like anybody buying the shares after Feb. 4 will not get the stock dividend. Anybody sure about this?
