Ted,

Re:"I think its the same with AMD. The longer they 'seed' the market with increased MHz product, the better the chances of picking up more customers and spreading your impact. In addition it makes better economic sense....we have witnessed how prices drop on existing product when a new speed grade is introduced.

Its my opinion that what you propose is the easy way to go and that what AMD is doing....what you call a cat and mouse game.....is the tough way to go. It requires inordinate patience and a well thought through plan. Besides its working just fine....and I don't think you want to tinker with something that ain't broke. JMHO"

I understand the cat & mouse advantages.

However AMD is taking the conservative path assuming that Intel will be behind - kind of the fat dumb and sloppy approach Intel employed last year - very successfully until AMD shocked them in Q4 with its AThlon speed ramp.

I am willing to bet there is a skunkworks team at Intel charged with getting to 1Ghz AND soon.

My point is that if they can deliver 1Ghz in modest volumes, that they do so and FAST.

I am all for keeping its price HIGH and not dropping lower priced lower MHZ parts.

Just my $0.02.

regards,

Kash
