Stephen.... re: ICGE >>down but not out<<

Certainly, the B2B revolution is driven by estimates of future eCommerce prospects reports by the Gartner Group, Jupiter Comm, and other analysts. The cash flow from MMs & VCs reminds me of the way corporations donate to political campaigns.... spread it around because who can predict the winner?

However, as 1999 was the first infusion of B2B betting, this year will be as lucrative for many yet. The big players like ICGE may not multiply by hundreds of % annually, as can happen with small caps & IPOs. But they'll remain a force as First Movers in the year of consolidation as they M&A their way to new heights.

In the short run though, ICGE is within 3 weeks of expiration of lockup, so a slide is predictable and may keep it low through Feb.

On a long term basis, CMGI demonstrates a bit more savvy in compiling complementary incubees, but I wouldn't bet against either because the market is always right.
