Hi Paty, why do you consider the warning to be poorly timed? Dell held off until the last moment. The miss is so larger that I must believe Dell knew of the problem quite some time ago. They just didn't want to announcement. Probably didn't want to take the "heat" any sooner than they had to. We should keep in mind that Dell is just another investment, not some sort of idol. IMO, it's time to move onto some other investment. The stock is going to be "dead money" for some time to come. IMO.

Dell had grown to a size where the "party" is over with.

Patsy,

You're not the only one who's completely stunned and with their head in the sand. This has been a major letdown for someone who had total faith in the credibility of DELL's management. Their lack of support for the stock lately has been abysmal (and yes, it is the job of every CEO to build shareholder value, that is what comes with the territory of running a public company). Michael Dell gives the impression of sheer arrogance and of someone who has been resting on past laurels, and who's taken the meteoric rise of the stock in the 90's totally for granted.

I dread with the thought of Dan Niles opening his mouth tomorrow.

Best Wishes,

Sam

Patsy, This was most definitely disappointing. I agree. I want to know more about what happened and what they are doing to get back on track. I think they did not warn because they were trying to make the quarter.

Hang in there! It will be a rough ride for the short term.

:) Leigh
