Hello Friends:

Maxwell has been resurrected. Many of the names that I once know are still here. It has been almost 1 year since I last posted. Well lots of things I predicted turned out to be true.

1) K7 is the world fastest X86 CPU. Elmer tried to convinced me it was only foil.

2) K7 takes the lead in speed.

3) 3DNOW! vs. KNI ? Who care. no winner. Highest MHz is all there is. I predicted 3DNOW! would win and my favorite high priest Paul Engle predicted KNI would win. We both were wrong.

4) Speed is determined largely by design (pipelines)

All I can say to you that Intel is having a hard time making fast PIII CPU, as you can see the limited supply of the 750MHz and 800MHz. Intel is pushing the transistor so hard that the chips fail. This is the same experience AMD is facing with the K6-2. It will be very tough for Intel to mass produce 1GHz with 0.18um without fixing up their PIII core logic. AMD on the other hand can do 1.2GHz K7 with 0.18um and has done it!

Anyway, I cashed out all AMD and no longer have any position with AMD. AMD is a hard way to earn money. All my other investments did much better than AMD. All I can say is Intel will do well as an investment. Intel is well diversified and have plenty of cash. Intel will regain the CPU lead when the Willamete comes out. For the rest of the year it is AMD game. AMD can only do well if the price is good and outside CEO takes over. AMD really needs a CEO with vision. Sanders is a braindead. The flash and CPU will not last forever. They need to search for more fertile ground like Intel is doing in the internet. By the way Hector from Motorola is just another Sanders. He screwed up Motorola Semiconductor Section in the last 5 years. Robert Parmer of DEC would have been a better choice. I actually would like to see Andy Grove take over AMD. But what can I say, managers tend to promote people that resemble themselves.

Nice to see everyone is making good money. Don't argue too much. I have seen both sides already. Intel is a damn good company. Intel will win the end game.
