Maxwell,
Nice to see you again.
I think Intel may win, unfortunately we won't know for sure for a year.

Jim

PS...Are you working for Intel?

Maxwell, I'm surprised to see you back here. It is interesting to look back at the claims you made about Athlon being the fastest processor in the universe. How ironic it must seem that Intel now posts the fastest SPECint95 scores ever posted. I would also like to remind you that Intel took the speed lead at 800MHz and AMD is only now struggling to catch up.

#1 Your claim that Athlon would blow away anything Intel could offer proved false. Just like I told you.

#2 Your claim that Athlon would take the speed lead proved false. Just like I told you.

I will grant you that the Athlon is an excellent design. It just wasn't what you claimed it would be.

Welcome back Maxwell!

Humble Carl should show up soon welcoming you in. ;)

"Intel will regain the CPU lead when the Willamete comes out."

Ok, so now you're the fourth person to say that. Willy sure must be something spectacular. I can't wait until Intel discloses info about it.

Good luck with your investments. I hope you still post on this thread in the future.

Hello, Maxwell, Welcome back!! Back to AMD is even better!

Delighted to hear from you again and know that your other investments are doing well for you.

why no position in AMD? Willy is still a year away!

Maxwell, welcome back again! Here is something I find puzzling!

I am sure that your past posts on this thread have left an enduring impressions on many of the long timer AMDers here.

Here is mine:

K6 days -- your posts had distinctive FIGHTING spirit;

After K6 debacle, you "retired" from this thread for a while, emerging when

K6-2 debut -- your posts while still maintained that fighting spirit as an AMD holder, tend to be mellower especially in regarding to Intel and its shareholders.

Athlon days -- this very post impresses me that you are a fellow just coming out from Camp David - Peace Maker!

While you know AMD would maintain its advantage over Intel for another year, yet, you chose not to invest in AMD. Puzzling!

Regards

Maxwell,

Good to see you back on the thread. I agree with most of your conclusions about the long term, but I see AMD as a good ride to the $60s within six months.

Maxwell

Hello. I lurked when you were still posting, but you had desisted by the time I started posting.

<All I can say to you that Intel is having a hard time making fast PIII CPU, as you can see the limited supply of the 750MHz and 800MHz. Intel is pushing the transistor so hard that the chips fail. This is the same experience AMD is facing with the K6-2. It will be very tough for Intel to mass produce 1GHz with 0.18um without fixing up their PIII core logic. AMD on the other hand can do 1.2GHz K7 with 0.18um and has done it!>

I have a prediction that is different from yours here. Are you going to the February ISSCC?
