Gst, contrary to Williams opinion $money keeps moving.
>Market watchers braced for Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's
testimony before the Senate Budget Committee, which held a hearing
today on his re-nomination to the Fed's top position. Mr. Greenspan's
testimony turned out to be a non-event, as he made mostly innocuous
statements and offered no hint as to whether the Fed was likely to
raise interest rates at its upcoming meeting. In describing the Fed's
role in the U.S. economy, Mr. Greenspan stated: "Our challenge in
monetary policy is to foster, as best we can, the financial conditions
that will allow this economic expansion and technological revolution to
continue as long, and as vigorously, as possible." Mr. Greenspan is
virtually assured to be confirmed by the Senate to his fourth term as
Fed Chairman.
