Hello mtnlady - BCE does have a lot of values. In addition to Bell Canada, it has stakes in Bell Mobility etc. However, BCE will not get a dime [or looney :)] out of the spinoff. It is a tax free spinoff, remember? Just to be longwinded, I ve agreed with you somewhat

BCE and NT are very different animals. To say the least, while NT has executed well except the NY incident in recent years, she is also in the right time and place. BCE is still very much a RBOC type company.

Btw, I only have NT and no BCE [I actually thought of getting some but forgot :(] in my stock portfolio, but my Mutual Series funds have a small stake in BCE [and shorted NT, hopefully, they are going to unwind the short side soon.] So I cannot say I am a totally disinterested individual as far as BCE is concerned.

best, Bosco

mtn lady,
I don't mean to pick on you but I can tell you are an American. You want to know about BCE's vision and growth? I live in Canada, where BCE is the most widely held commodity in the country. My cell phone was purchased from and is operated by Bell mobility, my phone and phone company are ran by Bell, and my digital satellite, a little 18' dish, is ran and operated by Bell Express Vu, which will soon hook up through my computer and I will recieve Bell internet service. I did not plan to buy all Bell products but it just happened this way. BCE is an innovator, the products they have are wonderful, and selling by the millions. I think the spin-off makes both companies an attractive portfolio stock, because they have now specialized themselves in their specific areas. Holding both covers those areas, and I see nothing both these stocks as long term holds. IMHO
