Bill,

Dell won't go with Athlon, period IMHO.

They are more of a marketing and distribution outfit than a real engineering powerhouse (and they have executed this in an outstanding fashion).

Supporting AThlon will require a completely different infrastructure.

I bet they and GTW later may look at VIA.

Those chips are due to be plug in replacements on same MB's.

And I bet VIA will bend over just to get the account whereas I doubt if AMD will do that.

I see y2K as a real BOOM year if US bIZ really picks up.

It seems to me that almost every PC's have a half-life of 2yrs. By year end lots of low end 166-266 Machines will be loking to replaced - likely by a real cheap 600-800Mhz box.
