reupping margin requirements
that's exactly what happened last spring with AOL: just as it was tanking big time (a lot like Qcom) many brokers (including the one I was in at the time for my margin account) raised maintenance on it...perfect timing for margin calls and big selloff.(I did get several then).
I was one of the ones who "didn't expect a sell off in 2000 until Feb" and I was planning on getting out of margin then.
Oh well. the best laid plans and all that.
But even the MM's cant keep prices down forever.
But if its a bear market?????
Hm but in a good economy: well we'll see how it turns out.
Good luck everyone!!!!

Well>> I must say that the recent market activity is very interesting. What is even more interesting is the behavior of everyone once things start to take a downturn. I guess what I am trying to say is that why sell based on short term performance. I guess I am still lacking in many aspects of the trading game, so I don't actively trade(day).
I also would speculate that many people who sell now have not thought out there goals and buy/sell prices. Also what about the tax implications? and if you are not worried about the tax(short term cap gains) then why not sell at rally time? I would think that for many investors low prices or touches on a companies 50 DMA are a time to buy.
