I sold because I had planned to for diversification.

If you have no tax consequences, and you think it will be a downturn lasting for a few days, Sell and buy back, if you think you are swift enough. I have not had much luck doing this, but I can see it as a reason to sell.

If you haven't had a case of the runs lately, and you miss them, you could sell and take a vacation in Mexico. :0)

My take exactly. If the posters on these and other threads are anything to go by, there are an awful lot of nervous nellies who sold in fear in the last 48 hours that are sitting on piles of cash. My guess is their fingers are twitching over the "submit" buttons because they suspect that when this correction turns it'll do so violently and when that happens they'll probably take a loss on the stock as well as taxes. I know all about it: been there, done that. That's the beauty of the GG, it teaches us diligence, patience, and an aversion for heavy margin debt and option investment.
