Gary,

I am not talking about WebClipping; I am talking about a standard HTML browser. There is got to be quite a few of them out there for Palm. Yes, IE is a good browser, but the question is whether a high end browser such as IE is a good fit for handheld devices. The reason CE has failed is because it simply didn't provide the right combination of features, user experience, and applications. Palm didn't compete on multimedia applications and colors, simply because they were not really ready for handheld devices.

Palm thinks now is the time for color. Along with color, I expect higher performance, streaming applications, and better browsers.

All Palm has to do is to create a great platform. Others will develop the applications.

Gary, the only credible wireless browser is WAP based. However, the fight among WAP forum members is going to slow this puppy down. Therefore coms decides to stay with web clipping for now. If WAP ever gets on track, Palm will get it with no problem. As a matter of fact Palm can just let developer to do it for them. A free WAP browser for Palm is available online. As for MSFT, it'll just have to go along with WAP spec. They will influence it way down the line, but it'll be tricky since it's not strictly free.

Gary, take a deep breadth and repeat after me 3 times:
coms = $, coms = $, coms = $.

cheers!

Gary, questions re: browsers

Don't the current form-factors of most palm-top devices preclude the use of full blown HTML browsers? ie; displays too small for any kind of decent web-surfing experience, and not enough room to accommodate the memory requirements of graphic intensive web-sites.

Is IE really a viable browser option for the current palm-top computing platforms? I'm asking, rather then asserting, if this is correct.

Best Regards,
