James, Mats, and Mephisto - thanks for the responses to my questions last week about stats for the embedded processor market. We're still wading through the numbers and hope to have a final report for the Gorilla and Kings thread later this week, which we'll post here also.

Good earnings report! The increases in margins is especially impressive. Also, I saw a stat yesterday about ARM vs. MIPS market share of the RISC market (in terms of units shipped):

1998:
MIPS 35.7%
ARM 33.8%

1999:
MIPS 21.8%
ARM 57.8%

That's a huge swing in one year. Does anyone have a sense of why the big shift in the numbers between the two in such a short time?
