Is LR down today on the news out of the ViaVid interview yesterday with e.Digital's Robert Putnam? Putnam acknowledged that there have been some problems with the supplier of LR's Cquence Mobile device.

Apparently, after about six months of learning how to produce the sample products, the manufacturer had problems ramping up for higher levels of volume.

The supplier in question is Eltech Electronics ( eltech.com ).

e.Digital Corporation (EDIG) designed LR's Cquence Mobile device and subcontracted the manufacturing responsibilities to Eltech Electronics.

In an earlier interview with Fred Falk (CEO of EDIG) Falk stated that LR would be launching the Cquence product line after the 1/1/2000. Yesterday, Putnam indicated that he still hopes that products can be shipped from Eltech to LR prior to the end of March.

This marks the second extended delay of shipments involving the Cquence Mobile product. There was also a several month delay during the production of the sample products back in early 1999. Around that same period, another e.Digital customer (Adamlab) reported a problem with e.Digitals MicroOS file management system which resulted in a delay of the launch of Adamlab's new SuperHawk Voice Output Communication Aid (VOCA) product.
