But...I do recall him saying, either this weekend or last, that the model indicators could get worse, and cause him to become even more risk averse. Perhaps his model has a next level down of +5% upside/-30% downside which would cause him to go totally to cash.

We do not know if Bob has gone to cash and short in his personal account. Perhaps he has indeed done so. What is the right course of action for Bob is probably far different than what is right for the average Joe six-pack newsletter subscriber or radio show listener.
