I think it's kinda too late. There's a lot vested in it. But there is dispute over translation in that some say the original language should have been translated as "maiden" rather than "virgin". I'd give the reference but I don't have it and am too busy scheming ways to thwart the bad man in my dreams in spite of the nillies who haven't watched enough horror flicks to know how what to do. Ammo would know.

<<<If I am offending anyone, I apologize in advance>>> I know something that I'm pretty sure is offensive ~ one of spouse's religio quips ~ "If he didn't need a father, why did he need a mother?"

That, to me, is an amazing question without a good explanation, a question I wouldn't have thought of, which is why I let her do most of my thinking.

I don't get what's RONG with conception.
That seems like a human view.

Wait ~ I'm not arguing.

Wait ~ Yes, I am, but it's your fault.

<<Also- I get confused about the Virgin thing... Virgin Birth referred to Mary's birth being free from Original sin. Does the Church also state that she was a Virgin at the time of birth? >>

What I was almost told as a Lutheran was that Mary had never sinned. Never put out either, even to her husband. Ok, the Holy Spirit did her but he was a spirit and not 3-D. And it was to create another arm of God and not for fun. Kinda like they teach the Aggies at A&M with cows in the AI course.

Lutherans were against sex, unless they were getting some on the side, which they bragged about until you got sick of hearing about it.

To get a Y chromosome, just grab aholt of an X and tear off a leg. That's why men didn't get entrusted with the duty/privilege of pregnancy.
That and we're lousy breastfeeders. We spill.

I think those are very good questions! BTW, Jesus had at least one brother, James.

Official Catholic dogma is that God miraculously preserved Mary's virginity before, during and after the birth of Christ. Heck, if he can do that, I guess he could preserve it before, during and after intercourse with Joseph. Yutzs (not sure if that's how you spell the plural of yutz).

I've always suspected that the whole virgin-birth thing started with a Roman soldier, or the boy down the street with the cute curls, and a really creative cover story.

If that offends anybody, I will also apologize, though insincerely.
