You are well aware that pigment WAS found on the shroud, I think. The arguments against it are allegations that it fell from the church, and that it doesn't correspond with the blood, anyway. Some articles from Biblical Archeology Review.

Strange, but McCrone who took the tape samples, claims that there are are plenty particles of iron oxide (red ochre) and, where the "blood" is alleged (McCrone denies any blood on the shrowd) he finds mercuric sulphide, vermillion (invented about 600 CE.)
