"France Telecom Expands Roaming Coverage for Itineris GSM Cellular Customers; New Globalstar Roaming Service Provides Complete Coverage of France CANNES, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 2000--France Telecom, the leading wireless service provider in France with over ten million subscribers, has announced that it will propose roaming coverage to its Itineris GSM cellular customers via the Globalstar satellite system. This new service will be available by the end of February. With the Globalstar roaming service, Itineris customers benefit from 100-percent coverage of France, as well as other countries in Europe, North and South America and South Africa, representing a total of 30 countries. Doctors, people aboard pleasure boats and long-distance truck drivers will now be able to stay in touch anywhere from within the Globalstar service coverage zone. To access the service, Itineris subscribers simply sign up for either the Europe or World roaming options. The Europe Option is available to all Itineris customers free of charge. Calls via the Globalstar service cost 13 francs per minute in France. Roaming calls via Globalstar can only be made with a dual-mode (GSM/satellite) handset. Itineris customers will be able to purchase the Telit SAT 550 dual-mode handset for 8,900 francs (excluding VAT) at France Telecom business sales outlets or by calling 0800 290 290. "
