Joe, I'm not in the Brocade camp, but I would like to see Ancor execute like Brocade has done. The KeyLabs report... Here I go again. The response to the KeyLabs report absolutely amazed me. Everybody (including me) has wanted a head to head test of the Ancor and Brocade switches for as long as I can remember. Here you have it, and you discount it entirely, because it was paid for by Brocade. UNBELIEVABLE! Just because the results showed that Brocade had the better switch, according to KeyLabs, you discount the WHOLE THING! Granted that Brocade paid for the tests, granted that they tested a MKII against a SilkWorm 2400, granted that the firmware wasn't the latest and greatest, granted that Brocade had engineers on site and nobody else did, granted that the new SANbox switch would have been a fairer comparison, wouldn't you still have expected the MKII to perform better than it did in ANY OF THE TESTS? Get your blinders off, people! Remember what we (me included) said when the MKII was introduced? It was so far ahead of Brocade that it would take them years to catch up. Nobody else was even close to the technology embodied in the MKII. What happened? What about the ACTUAL TESTS was flawed? Have you actually READ the KeyLabs report? I have. If you want to discuss the results of each individual test, I will take the time. In the past, this thread would have taken this type of information and devoured it. Now, nobody seems to care. Just as they don't seem to care whether the actual numbers show any real signs of improvement. I think you guys are getting lazy. I've been told that I look into the past too much, and should concentrate on the future. However, the past is much clearer to me. <g> In this case, it can clearly be seen why Brocade's products have been more successful than Ancor's. Obviously, going forward the SANbox switches may change that. Examining what happened in the past can help us figure out what to look for in the future. Another example. What is Brocade doing with Optical Networks? That one certainly caught me by surprise. What Ancor should do is figure out what Brocade's strategy is there. It might allow them to move more quickly into an area that Brocade thinks has potential. Historically, Brocade has been better at being in the right place at the right time. Ancor has always been late with their vision and with their products. Until Ancor stops playing follow the leader, they can't really be considered a gorilla. Once again, I think some of you are underestimating Brocade. I think the dearth of discussion regarding Optical Networks proves that. Call me paranoid, but the fact that I hold no shares of either company might just make me more objective. Craig
