In the same manner as you told Bill the other day, you, your opinion (and presumably anyone so foolish as to think your opinion matters) are of no consequence. So the error is in fact, not an error at all. QED! JLA

Hi X,

I certainly care what you think, but when you wax nostalgic over your long lost friends, well, maybe you should just GET OVER IT!!!!

Sheesh.

Hey, X!! I care what you think. Always have done.

Except where Bilbo's concerned, of course.

I care what you think, and so does my husband, my children, my dog, and even my cats. Let's see, that's eight votes for X.

Oh dear, are the polls closed? I left earlier when I thought I'd gotten caught in a time warp and was reading the same posts I'd read for the last several weeks here. I thought I was Bill Murray in Groundhog Day.
Well, of COURSE I care what you think!!! You are always entertaining, witty, knowledgeable, brilliantly analytical, extremely well-read, a wonderful mother, an exquisite dresser, a gourmet par excellence, and you always agree with me. I can't ask for more in a best friend.

You're welcome.

I might not always care FOR waht you think (although I usually do!), but I always care WAHT you think. It seems to me to be one of the indispensable foundations of decency. Or wahtever.

Oh, dear, I have left SI, taken a leave-of-absence, virtually, but a friend sent me a link to this post of yours, and I can hardly resist dropping by to say that I care SO SO much what you think, oh my GOD do I care, and although I am, literally, many many thousands of posts behind on feelies, and anticipate remaining so, regrettably, I'm sure, I feel certain even without having read the antecedent posts, that they are oh just so very wrong! Why, if they don't know how many people care for your good opinion, why what DO they know?

Speaking of God, as long as I'm here, I thought I'd mention this in passing, just sent to me by a friend:

At a Family, Faith and Freedom really in Des Moines, the Christian writer Josh McDowell pointed to an alarming study showing that more born-again Christians than atheists are divorced. "Until we are willing to live the Ten Commandments ourselves, we have no right to hang them up in schools!" he said. As Jesus said, "Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out (sic) of thine own eye." Matthew 7:5.

In a way, McDowell is being unfair, I think, because it's likely that it isn't born again Christianity itself that is a predictor of people being unable to stand each other for very long; it's more likely a tendency to certain concomitant intellectual attributes.

Just a guess, though!

Maybe I'll go to the Ask God thread for an explanation. I'm absolutely sure they'd have various theories that don't compliment atheists, and it might be interesting to read them. I know that the fact that there are fewer atheists in prisons than there are those of any other philosophical/religious affiliation is neatly explained away.

P.S. Did I mention that I care what you think? Especially what you think of mememe.

That's just a version of "That's enough talking about me. Now let's talk about you. What do you think of me?"

X, I definitely care what you think. You're so completely "straight," something rare on SI.

I do, I do. Funny this coming up, 'cause I've thought of saying something to you along those lines but it always sounds silly to me. I learn from you. That's a big part and a big thing. Not facts and figures, but thought knowledge. Even when I disagree with you (which isn't all that often, but a lot of times it's a different focus on a topic but kinda of the same thought), your posts make me think and are written so that they lead you somewhere if you care to delve and in doing so, many times my own thoughts on something are clarified. And sometimes you say it so that I'm left thinking, "yah, that's what I think and if I had words, I'da said that". Anyway, I think it's cool and hope I get to continue reading you, X the Unknown.

I think LRR (and jp, whose post I just saw) expressed my thoughts more eloquently than I could hope to. Add one more to the CARES column.

FWIW, I care. That probably amuses you, but I get in a whimsical mood sometimes.
