As this is the third day in a row a different fund has shown a new buy of Ciena, it may be getting old hat-but I am not one to complain... <g>

In Friday's IBD on page B3, it shows the Mangers Capital Appreciation Fund had a new buy of 36,300 shares of Ciena. FWIW this fund has an A+ rating by IBD.

On a totally different note, I found the following passage in an article on TheStreet.com ......

>>With a few extra square feet than the little guys' booths, JDS Uniphase was strutting its stuff. I walked up to a table full of the robotic caulking guns, and a nice man came over. He lovingly explained that JDS Uniphase supplies this laser to manufacturers that build them into larger systems. Sensing my only opportunity to ask a question and prove myself a sentient being, I asked for examples of JDS Uniphase customers. The gentleman didn't say Ciena (CIEN:Nasdaq - news) or any sort of communications equipment manufacturer. He said something about a genetics researcher.

Genetics? What the hell?!<<

The writer, Tish, is a bit too cheeky for my tastes, but as anecdotal evidence of increased exposure for Ciena (mental associative evidence-the first company that comes to her mind as a fiber optics component customer is Ciena...) her comments were interesting to me...
