I remember looking at GAC, fall of 1996 when they announced a rather large acquisition.. GAC was trading around 17-18, presplit.. My take was, are they going to be able to digest it.. 2-3 months later, the stock was in mid 20s and ofcourse it went on to split 2-1 and traded in mid 60s after the split (all dates and dollars are from memory so bear with me)..

So at these prices, it is 1/3 from the high, and halfway through JBA acquisition, over 1.2 or so billion dollar in revenue, and the company is pretty good at milking the installed base in terms of cash, the new CEO has bought 200k shares on the open market, the company is buying back their shares (although I will have to check how many and over what period) and last but not least, there are more acquisitions to follow...which I suppose is both good and bad.

Since I typically buy for longer holding period and am just getting started, I think I will wait a bit before deciding whether this is a mistake or not..
