Big Bull:

As I said I did not agree 100% with that article. The US does exert huge influnce in places like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, but they do not call all the shots. These governments must take into account the fact that the US is highly unpopular among many of their citizens. There are limits to their ability and willingness to meet every US demand.

Bull, this was one of your best posts. IMO you have an excellent understanding of the ME situation. Keep up the good work.

OT: The success of McCain has really got the oligarchy of the Rep. party scared. McCain may be the best chance for the people to get the power back from the ultra-wealthy (people and corporations).

I'm a 56 year old, relatively wealthy, republican conservative. And I am embarrassed by the republican extremists in congress. For example, I'm also a hunter. And I recently got a call from Tom Delay (recorded) essentially asking for money because if the Democrats got control of congress they would take away all our guns. DISGUSTING.

Unfortunately enough $ can buy TV commercials, etc. that get the naive public to believe such crap. I'm increasingly for McCain. To me he is a shining light in the dark, polluted American politic.

Take care all. Winkman
