edwin, please indulge me as i try to construct a scenario for sftbf:

we know that in april several trillion yen will be available to japanese investors as some kind of low interest postal bonds mature and investors seek higher returns.

if that is true, those investors may well seek those returns in equities, in japan as well as elsewhere.

japanese investors have been characterized on this thread as more conservative than, say, american investors. if that is true, they will be less likely to pursue aggressive stocks and stick with larger ones, industry leaders if you will, rather than start ups, etc. allowing, of course, that there will be a risk taking element there.

sftbf will stand out as an attractive investment to them because it is an internet stock, it is large and probably "safer" than dotcom start ups (or the japanese equivalent. many will then put their monry in sftbf, driving up the price as more yen chase fewer shares.

other investors will invest in other big japanese companies (sony, honda, i don't know). this may trigger something like the wealth effect here allowing even more investment and starting a so called "virtuous circle" in japan. while sftbf's market cap will grow, so will other companies. they will feed on each other. if a wealth effect is created, it may stimulate the japanese economy into higher gear.

this will drive sftbf even higher. but how high? perhpas much higher even than jay's Y800k target.

okay, now i got that out, i invite you and malcom and jay to show me the flaws in the premises. i know very little about japanese economics, but these are some things i have put together from posts here and on the rb sftbf thread. have at it!
