<OT> Hi Eli, I had this thing figured out last night, maybe I can recap, mornings are tough. You see, like lws, I like to think about things, rotate ideas, explore concepts and there are no particular restrictions, only why, when, how and "what if". Just wish I had lws' brilliance. It puzzled me as to why someone would come on this thread at this particular time and publicly announce he had shorted Valence Technology. My conclusion is that it is a publicity stunt. Right now, the ring is littered with shorts, bloody and sprawled on the mat. So, up steps a fellow with ego big enough to name a thread after himself and proclaim, "let a man show you how it's done". It doesn't matter whether he has actually shorted or how much. The odds are in his favor. A "win" would have enormous cache among that crowd and would be referred to constantly on the captive thread . A loss would be quietly buried. The exact timing of this was also puzzling until Visnic (motley frank) mentioned "stochastics". The misuse of this technique on a story stock led to the timing of the proclamation. We are all aware of the statistics behind shorting. One big win makes up for a bunch of loses. I have a problem with shorts who smear and slander a dozen companies in the hopes of being right about 3. I am not aware of that happening in this particular case and it wouldn't fly, anyway. There's a lot more but will give it a rest, for now. A note to Zeev: yes, let's all be cautious. My feeling is that anything can happen at any time. A tornado could hit. Someone could win the lottery. We're only a heartbeat away from truth. However, at a given point in time, while being fully prepared for all eventualities, something happens that was totally unexpected and unprepared for. A bit of a paradox? In Spain, during the onslaught of the Moors, the Visigoths has the military advantage through thorough Teutonic preparedness. They were undone by a single traitor who sneaked through the lines in the dead of night and showed the Moors the secret passage behind the Goth's defenses.
